Frequently Asked Questions

I have my own logo. What file format do you need?

- We prefer to work with AI, PDF, EPS, and high resolution JPEG files at least 300 dots per inch (DPI) at the actual size you want it printed.

Can I mix garments or do they have to be all the same?

- You can mix and match different items as long as the placement remains the same. Different placement can be done for an additional charge.

Any specialty inks or processes?

-We currently have neon, shimmer, and glow in the dark select colors. We also do foil application and rhinestones. Please inquire about pricing.

What is the typical turn around time?

- Our typical turn around time is 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. We do try our best to accommodate deadlines and rush jobs as our schedule allows at no additional charge.

Can you make me a custom design and how much would that cost?

- Our artists can make all of your ideas come to life. Short on ideas? No problem! We will brainstorm and create a custom logo for your business. There is no charge for this service.

Do you offer other products besides t-shirts?

- Artistic textile Graphics offers a wide variety of apparel products for imprinting and embroidery. If you don’t see it on our website, please contact us for additional product options. Artwork Requirements

We prefer .AI or .EPS files first because Vector images can be scaled without affecting quality. We prefer .PSD or .PDF second & .JPG or .TIFF last.

Please make sure your image is suitable for the decoration method you are using. It is always a good idea to create your art actual size (the actual size you want it to print). This is especially important for non-vector images.

Keep in mind that most screen printing is a spot color medium. Convert all CMYK colors to spot colors. If possible, submit your artwork separately along with your mock-up.

Although we can deal with almost any file sent to us, the entire production process can be expedited, and greater quality assurances can be guaranteed, if the following guidelines are met.

Please Note: 3 or more color changes is no longer considered the same design!

ACCEPTABLE FILE TYPES

Adobe Illustrator (ai)

Portable Document Format (pdf)

Encapsulated Post Script (eps)

Corel Draw (cdr)

Adobe Photoshop (psd)

Tagged Image File Format (tiff)

Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG)

Portable Network Graphics (png)

100% vector art. Vector artwork has clearly defined edges no matter how much you zoom and each color can be selected individually. Ultimately, your art will end up in this format. (Note: copying and pasting jpeg images INTO a vector file document / PDF does not convert jpeg images into vector art.) Logo/Art conversions from jpeg images to vector art may delay your order.

Submit files with all colors converted to spot color, and all unused colors deleted from the document.

To achieve the highest quality print, all JPG, TIFF, & PNG artwork must be sent at a resolution between 150(dpi) to 300(dpi), ACTUAL print size.

Multi-color artwork, such as color photographs, or full color drawings, are printable using a Simulated Spot Process technique.  The final product won't look good unless your image is at least 300 dots per inch (dpi) at the actual size you want it printed.

MICROSOFT NATIVE FORMATS

Word, Powerpoint, Publisher (and other text-editing programs) may be used to create rough compositions, or to communicate rough design ideas. However, they are not suitable for creating print-ready artwork. These files will need to be re-drawn, so please check carefully.

PROCESS PRINTING

Four Color Process uses only 4 colors to achieve a photo-realistic print (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black). This process is typically performed on white or light colored garments and will not produce a high amount of color detail.

Simulated Process printing is best used for artwork with high amounts of detail or color. While the print will be vibrant and highly detailed, you will lose some elements of detail from what you see on your computer screen. This process works well on both light and dark colored garments. Due to the difficulty involved there is a 1 time setup fee to get your artwork ready for printing.

image size

Your design should be sized to the size it should be printed. If you want your print to be 10" wide, please be sure the actual design within the file is 10" wide, not just the background of your design file.

If your file is not 300 ppi, you cannot just increase the resolution of the file. This is called "upsampling" and will result in a blurry image.

Be aware that JPG'S, GIF'S, & PNG'S downloaded from the internet are sized at a low resolution in order to load quickly on a website. They DO NOT provide enough resolution for us to use as actual artwork. We must employ a variety of techniques to compensate for low resolution images.

We cannot be held responsible for low-quality reproduction resulting from low-quality artwork provided.

convert your text to outlines

To resolve any font spacing issues, or missing font issues. You must outline all lettering. If you are creating your file in Adobe Illustrator, you will need to select all lettering in your art, then choose "Create Outlines" from the Type menu. This resolves ALL font issues and guarantees that fonts will look exactly as intended on anyones computer.

color palettes

Please be aware that not every color looks the same on every monitor. A certain red on your screen may appear to be a different red on ours. There is no universal color calibration for computers. It is always best to try to supply your own pantone colors if possible.

When coloring your design, please reference the PANTONE SOLID UNCOATED book that ships with your design software. We primarily print with PANTONE SOLID UNCOATED colors, but we will use SOLID COATED if requested. Choose from our stock ink colors or ask about custom color matching.

halftones

Please allow us to halftone the art for you. If we do not control the halftones, we cannot guarantee the quality of the print. Our computers in the art department are calibrated to set the halftones specifically for the films and screens that we use for printing. Often times if you try to color separate or halftone the image yourself it may cause more art charges than you would have originally incurred.

Haftones do not print smooth as they do on your ink jet printer, but rather grainy or dotted. Halftones appear smooth on your monitor but screen print as dots that are more visible as you look closer.

Silk Screen Process

Whether we print on 1 or 1,000 t-shirts, generating screen meshes is labor intensive. It requires stencils of your art to be carefully exposed on a emulsion coated screen mesh, washed and then dryed individually for each color.
